SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The first issue of Secret Worlds Magazine is now underway, and we're looking for short stories, poetry, and artwork to include. To send us your work, please read and follow all the guidelines below. Work sent to us that does not follow all guidelines will not be considered.

1. Please send only your very best work. We are eager to make Secret Worlds the finest magazine of its kind. You can help by contributing the highest quality work possible.

2. Check punctuation. If you have trouble reading what you've written, we probably will too. Remember, this is your chance to show us how great your work truly is- make a strong impression on the editors by making your work easy to read.

3.  Send work by email to info@TheSecretWorlds.com. Include your submission either within the body of the email, or as an email attachment. Your parents may be able to help if you have difficulty with this. Please make sure your attached file is a word.doc

2. In the subject line of the email, write: "Submission:" followed by your name.

3. For artwork, and artwork only, you may send by normal mail to the following address:

Secret Worlds Magazine

261 Chateau Place

Edmonton, AB T5T 1V3

4. Short stories may be on any topic. In particular, we are seeking highly creative, original, heart-felt stories that have a beginning, middle and end. The ideal story will be 1000 words or less.

5. For poetry, surprise us! We're looking for anything sincere and original- and we especially appreciate poetry that breaks free from what's normal. Don't be afraid to explore the new and the strange- we like poets with zest!

Please note!

Though we're very eager to read your work, and can't wait to discover how creative you truly are, please keep in mind that we receive many submissions like yours each week. And since we like to give every story, poem, and drawing the complete attention they deserve, it may take us a while to make a decision on your work. Please be patient, and allow at least four weeks for our response before following up by email.

And just as important!

Because there is limited space in each magazine issue, the unfortunate truth is that not all submissions will be accepted. The editors must be selective, and will choose work based on many different criteria. This means many fantastic stories, poems, and drawings will not be selected. Our advice to you: Keep at it! If your work doesn't fit in here, it may be because a better home (magazine) awaits it elsewhere. Each editor's tastes and personal preferences are exactly that- personal, and in no way reflect the quality of the work you've submitted. So take heart, press forth, and please consider sending us the next masterpiece that falls like black gold from pen...

And if your work is accepted for publication, congradulations! This is a wonderful accomplishment. Very few people, let alone children, can say they've been published in a magazine. Please note, however, that because Secret Worlds Magazine only publishes work from kids aged 7-13, we'll need to get permission from your parents prior to publication. They can expect to recieve a one-page permission form by email. Once they sign and return it, we'll consider it a done deal.

So here's to all our potential contributors, and to each of us making the first issue of Secret Worlds Magazine the very best it can be!

With much enthusiasm,                                                                                                          The Editors
