ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Who is The Karakul?

A very good question. As an initiate of the High Council of Secret Libraries, we know he looks after many dangerous books. We know he spends a good deal of time traveling, researching faraway worlds. And we know he is an expert on Wrush. Other than that, we don't really know much at all. The Karakul has always been secretive.

His manuscripts were delivered to the publisher by riderless camel. Strange, cryptic instructions, or possibly threats, were included. His real name we do not know, but of karakuls in general, the dictionary has this to say: “Karakul are a hearty species of sheep from the highland plateaus of Turkmenistan. Their wool was traditionally used in the production of Persian rugs.” It is possible the author sees himself as a ram of sorts; hardheaded, gruff, and argumentative, but ultimately protective of his flock, having great affection for the least small lamb. We think he lives in a cave. Or maybe Canada.
